The surgery department at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center is thrilled to announce the addition of a new hysteroscope and pump system!
A hysteroscope is a thin, lighted, telescope-like device which transmits an image of the uterus onto a screen in the operating room. It is used for hysteroscopy’s, diagnostics, and certain obstetrical procedures. According to the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), hysteroscopy is done to diagnose or treat problems of the uterus, most commonly to find the cause of abnormal uterine bleeding. The new equipment can also be used to remove adhesions that may occur due to infection or from past surgeries; diagnose the cause of repeated miscarriages; locate an intrauterine device; and perform sterilization.
“We are very excited to add the hysteroscope to our department as it gives us the ability to do procedures on more patients with difficult cases,” stated Sandy Morse, RN, and Manager of the Surgery Department at CPMC. “This new system allows for precision fluid monitoring during an actual surgery, which provides the surgeon with more accurate information to safely do the procedure. It is an amazing resource for CPMC to have the ability to perform more procedures locally, which benefits our patients in a number of ways: one of which is having family and friends nearby for support.”
