Registration to participate in “game-damage” hunts on private land or during possible management seasons this year begins Thursday, according to Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks. The deadline is July 15.

Interested hunters will be placed on a roster for three types of hunts — game damage, management season and dispersal — to prevent or reduce damage primarily caused by deer, elk and antelope, a news release states. Any hunts that occur would happen between Aug. 15, 2017 and Feb. 15, 2018.

Hunters can register at fwp.mt.gov (click “Hunt Roster”) for one district per species and should only register for districts they are familiar with, the news release states.

A final roster will be randomly generated by July 20 and posted to myfwp.mt.gov.
