Libby Chamber of Commerce brings fresh ideas and passion
I have long been a Libby Chamber member and was honored to serve on the Board some years ago. During those late 1980s and early 1990 years, the Chamber was a great focal point for community interest and motivation – but that was before the collapse of the timber industry, the closure of the Troy Mine and the W.R. Grace legacy.
Over the years, the Chamber has reflected the trials and tribulations of the community. Now, the Chamber is reflecting the Libby area economic re-awakening with a host of new Board members who have joined the seasoned volunteers. Working together, the group is bringing fresh ideas and a passion that will help the Chamber be a positive face representing our area’s businesses and an engine that assists in moving our local economy forward.
I have had the chance to meet with the Board a few times in the last several months and am impressed with their enthusiasm as they embrace partners and new ideas. Efforts with Lincoln County to rebuild the Chamber website and partnering with Libby Christian Church’s “Change For A Dollar” initiative in building ‘welcome’ kits for visitors are just two current outreach improvement examples.
I encourage anyone with interest in what is on the horizon for local businesses to join the Chamber. If you are not a member, attend one of the regularly scheduled luncheon meetings, or just drop by the Chamber office to look around and say hello.
