The Surgery Department at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center on Thursday announced that Technician Erin Moe recently received her certification as a registered nurse first assist, which allows her to assist with more advanced tasks during procedures in the operating room, and complete new skills to aid the surgeon.

Moe began her career with Cabinet Peaks Medical Center in 2007 as a scrub tech in the surgery department. In 2009, she made the decision to attend nursing school, graduating in 2010 with her Associates Degree. She then went on to receive her Bachelors of Science in nursing in 2016.

“In rural surgeries across the nation, general surgeons often don’t have the resource of a second surgeon to help with surgeries,” General Surgeon Dr. Lance Ercanbrack states in a news release. “A trained first assist like Erin Moe can fill that role and help tremendously in surgery. We are very lucky to have her here.”
