County human resources manager to retire in August

Lincoln County Human Resource Manager Victor White has announced his retirement, though not yet an official last day.

“I am staying on for two to three more weeks to work with the new EMA Planner (Brent Teske),” White said via email Wednesday.

White looks forward to spending time with his wife Dixie and 11 grandchildren.

“The retirement goes something like this — hunting, fishing and camping with the grandkids,” he wrote. “We plan on traveling a little. I was always in a hurry during my working career and never stopped to really enjoy the sites, especially of Montana, so I am going to stop and read all the historical signs as we drive thorough Montana.”

White said his most memorable moments working for the county “could fill a whole page in the paper.”

“One year we had flooding around Libby and a few places outside the city limits,” he recounted. “It was late at night and raining. I was able to work with my sister Barb who was the Sheriff Dispatch operator that night. The calls started to accumulate when I received a call from brother Boyd, a Sheriff’s Deputy who was working that night. My brother said he would check out the calls and let me know which ones were the priority so I could respond accordingly. Brothers and sister working together during an emergency I thought was pretty cool.”

Dallas Bowe, who has been working for the county in payroll and human resources, has taken over as director of human resources.
