The Lincoln County Commission on July 19 approved a new 911 contract with Frontier Communications that cleared up some issues with the previous contract.

The new contract, for $121,813.79, was “quite different” than the previous one, said County IT Director Ernie Anderson, which “had language that did not match or refer to the RFP.”

“I’m very confident (in the new contract),” Anderson told the Commission.

In a follow-up email Anderson wrote that the new contract includes “a complete retooling of the 911 system.”

“The next step is to have a meeting with Frontier, and start the process of what the installation steps are going to be,” he wrote. “Then find out when the new equipment will ship.”

Anderson told the Commission that the installation would occur within six months and that Frontier was “guaranteeing no downtime” during the installation.

The contract includes a five-year maintenance agreement.
