Council member still searching for home within city limits

Libby City Council’s Brian Zimmerman continues to look for a place to live within city limits.

“We are again today in the process of making an offer on a house in the city limits,” Zimmerman said via email Friday. “We are hoping once again that we won’t be beat out on a bid.”

Monday Zimmerman reported they were considering the seller’s counteroffer.

Zimmerman said his efforts to purchase a home have been thwarted by being outbid “at least three times” and having a “couple of the deals fall apart and not be able to come together on a price.”

“And of course our original property is still in litigation with the contractors, estate and insurance company,” he wrote

That property, he noted, is the Mineral Avenue property they originally were to buy after a rebuild from a fire two and a half years ago.

The question of Zimmerman’s residency was last raised in front of the City Council at its March 20 meeting.

“I don’t believe that Mr. Zimmerman is doing anything of ill will towards the city,” council member Kristin Smith said at the meeting. “I believe that he has the city’s interest at heart and he is working towards finding housing because I’m sure he wants to find housing.”

“I am hoping that at the next council meeting I will be able to give a positive update and time for being back into the city limits full time,” Zimmerman said in his Friday email.
