Marian J. Applegate

| July 18, 2017 4:00 AM

Marian Jeanette Applegate, 78, of Libby passed away at her home on Thursday, July 13, 2017 of natural causes. She was born August 7, 1938 in Waskish, Minnesota to Charles and Erma (Hill) Webster. Marian married Duane Applegate on September 20, 1958 at the Libby Church of God. They were blessed with two children, Thomas and Shala. Over the years, Marian worked for the telephone company, Adkins Grocery, and owned and operated Kootenai Antiques for more than 20 years.

Marian’s favorite things were bowling, antiques, raising flowers and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She ran the Women’s Bowling Association, of which she was a long-time member, and bowled on many leagues throughout her life. After years of collecting antiques, she opened her own business, Kootenai Antiques. She truly enjoyed visiting with her customers and sharing her knowledge. She and her husband, Duane, would travel to antique shows throughout the northwest. When her grandkids were born, she loved spoiling them and going to any function they were a part of.

Marian had an infectious personality and enjoyed visiting with anyone. Many people will remember her from her constant presence at any local yard sale, always looking for a treasure or someone to talk to!

Marian was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Erma Webster; her sister, Charolette Riley; and her brother Robert Webster.

Survivors include her husband Duane of Libby; children Thomas Applegate of Issaquah, Washington and Shala White of Libby; grandchildren Kayla Friss and Brook Simmons, both of Libby; great-grandchildren David Friss, Logan Friss and Daniel Simmons; and a sister, Susan Port.

Services for Marian will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2017, at Libby Christian Church. Arrangements are under the care of Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home & Crematory.
