GOP health plan would injure Montana

| July 18, 2017 4:00 AM

Seventy thousand Montanans would lose their health insurance, as would over 20 million nationwide under the GOP health-care bill. The bill would be a disaster especially for rural areas; hospitals would not be able to recover the costs of emergency treatments for people without insurance and some may have to close.

Many services that insurance companies are required to fund like maternal care, prescription coverage, annual physicals, etc., will face elimination from insurance plans.

You won’t be able to change jobs if you’re sick, because insurance companies will no longer have to cover pre-existing conditions. You may be stuck with a job you hate, because you can’t afford to lose your health insurance.

These are just a few examples of a terrible healthcare bill. The other truly infuriating and insulting aspect of the proposed government’s healthcare cutbacks is that the savings will go into large tax reductions for the rich and mega-rich.

Are we seriously considering a bill that would be horrendous for millions of our fellow countrymen so that the wealthy can accumulate even more riches?

I hope not, and I urge our senators, Steve Daines and Jon Tester, to vote against this monstrosity!
