Be sure to attach medical to workers comp settlements

| July 14, 2017 4:00 AM

Just a quick heads up for the people and victims of Libby: when it comes to any workers compensation settlements, be sure to get medical attached to your claim/settlement. If you don’t Medicare will put liens on your settlement and any future settlements. We are going through this process now; something that was supposed to take two to four weeks is apparently going to drag on for months.

If you’re told it’s to hard to get medical attached, don’t back down. Hold your ground, make your attorneys fight to get you the best deal possible. That way Medicare won’t attach any leans on any future dollar amounts.

Remember, Medicare can and will put liens on you even if you don’t have hospice or long term care at this time. Any condition related to your ARD they will touch — even though they say they won’t, they will.

It’s bad enough we have to deal with this disease on a daily basis. We worked hard for these companies even though they knew they were exposing us all. They should at least take care of our medical, along with a fair dollar compensation.

Just my opinion from my experience.
