Lakers, Loggers split A matchup

The Kalispell Lakers A left no room for doubt in the first game of Wednesday night’s doubleheader against the Libby Loggers.

The Loggers did the same in the nightcap.

Led by Cole Crosby’s two hits and three RBIs, the Lakers demolished the Loggers 18-1 in Game 1 at Griffin Field.

Libby rebounded in Game 2, however, bouncing back for a 12-7 win on a high-scoring night.

The Kalispell offense provided ample margin for error in Game 1, but Logan Siblerud was dominant on the mound.

He tossed four innings of no-hit, shutout ball and struck out seven Loggers before handing the reins to Grant Marsh, who allowed both Libby hits and its run in his one inning of work.

Kalispell scored its 18 runs on just 12 hits. The Loggers aided the Lakers with eight errors, and the home team had three errors of its own.

Siblerud, Taylor Morton, Jonathan Craver and Brandon Jordan each tallied two hits to go with Crosby’s big night as the Lakers powered past the Loggers with ease.

Craver scored four runs for the Lakers.

Raul Rodriguez had a hit and scored the only run of the game for Libby.

The tables turned completely in Game 2, as it was the Loggers lighting up the scoreboard.

Rodriguez led the way on offense again in the nightcap, recording four hits, three RBIs and two runs.

Seth Bateman added three hits and scored two runs in addition to his work on the mound.

Relieving starter Tim Carvey, Bateman fired four innings of two-hit ball, shutting down the Laker offense that had been on fire all night to that point.

Kalispell led 7-4 after four innings, but Libby tacked on four runs in the fifth inning and stretched its lead with four more runs in the seventh inning.

The Loggers return to action Friday at 5 p.m. in a doubleheader against the Glacier Twins A.

The Twins will then travel to Kalispell for a nine-inning game versus the Lakers on Saturday at 3 p.m.
