Siri Swenson

Shirley “Siri” Ann Swenson, 83, passed away June 20, 2017 at Maui Memorial Hospital of natural causes. She was born in Minnesota and resided many places including Montana, Chicago, New York City, Washington state and Maui. Siri, was an exceptional artist/woodcarver, a kind, compassionate woman who served and championed equal rights for all people. She lived an extraordinary life and often was “ahead of her time”.

She graduated as Salutatorian from Libby High School, MT in 1952, her senior quote reading, “Give me a pencil and I’ll draw it.” She subsequently went on to attend Moody Bible Institute, the Art Institute of Chicago, and studied art and wood carving in New York City. She also created several woodcarvings for St. Aiden’s Episcopal Church in Camano Island, WA. Her woodcarvings can be found in various places in Minnesota, Montana, Washington and Hawaii; including Christ Lutheran in Libby, MT, in honor of her deceased nieces and parents. Siri has resided in Maui since the mid 1980’s with her daughter.

She is survived by her daughter, Giulietta Swenson of Maui, HI, and her four siblings; Gary (Bonnie) Swenson, Mary Tevebaugh, David (Barbara) Swenson, and Linda (Willie) Schikora, all of Libby. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Nieces; Jenan Swenson, Kari Martell, Dhana Nelson, Jessica Klepfer, Kara Matthews and Cathy Hardison. Nephews; Tim Tevebaugh, Cliff Tevebaugh, Chris Swenson, Jeff Caneer and Shawn Roberts.

She was predeceased by her parents; Cora and Clifford Swenson, and her three nieces; Melissa Tevebaugh, Jodi Caneer and Charlotte Hasslen.
