The Lady Trojans moved into a three-way tie for first place in District 7-B with a win against the Lady Loggers and Bluehawks.

The Lady Trojans are joining the Lady Loggers and the Bigfork Valkyries at the top.

Lady Trojans defeated the Lady Loggers 45-40, despite Allie Coldwell fouling out in the third quarter.

“It was a great team win for us,” Troy girls basketball coach Justin Young said. “Our seniors really stepped up and let their experience carry us. I was particularly impressed with Allie Brown. She played rock solid basketball and knocked down some clutch shots and free throws. Libby is a well-coached team with some great athletes. I was proud of the way our girls competed against them.”

Jayden Winslow and Shannon Reny each scored a whopping 17 points for the Lady Loggers, with Abby Ennenga scoring five and Alli Collins adding one.

For Troy, Allie Brown led the team with 12 with Alyssa Lewis not far behind with 10. Kaitlyn Downey tallied nine for the team, Aurora Becquart scored six, Allie Coldwell scored five and Olivia Roach tallied three.

The Lady Loggers are 4-1 in conference and 7-4 overall and the Lady Trojans are 2-2 in conference and 7-3 overall.

AFTER DEFEATING THEIR rivals to the west, the Lady Trojans dominated once again against Thompson Falls on Saturday 44-35.

Alyssa Lewis led Troy with a game-high 12 points and Allie Coldwell chipped in with 11 more.

“We got a little complacent with our effort and execution,” Troy Coach Justin Young said. “After clicking in the first quarter we got stuck in neutral for most of the second. The girls did a good job in the second half, though, of coming out and taking control. Our posts did a good job on both ends of the courts. They got the big stops when we needed them, and muscled baskets in when we needed them. Alyssa Lewis has been an absolute beast for us lately.”

With districts just around the corner, the Lady Trojans are now tied with the Lady Loggers and the Bigfork Valkyries for first in the district.

“I would say the theme of this weekend was grit,” Young said. “The girls showed grit in both games. No matter the situation they put their nose to the grindstone and found a way to get the job done and walk out with a couple of big conference wins.”

THE LADY LOGGERS took another defeat on Saturday, when Ronan outscored them in both the first and last quarters for a 50-40 win.

While Libby was able to play catch-up in the first half, Ronan came back with a vengeance, ultimately scoring 19 points over Libby’s 12 in the final quarter.

Jayden Winslow led the Lady Loggers with 16 points. Shannon Reny came in with 10 for the team with Abby Ennenga tallying eight, and Abby Creighton, Alli Collins and Sammie Bradeen each adding two.
