Loggers lose battle against Bigfork 54-48

Bad road conditions in Sanders County led the postponement of Thursday night’s game between Libby and Thompson Falls.

The Libby Loggers may have lost the battle against Bigfork on Saturday, but Coach Josh Bean is proud of his team.

“Our kids had an outstanding effort on the defensive end,” Bean said. “We held their scorers in check for most of the game. Bigfork did a nice job of changing up defenses all night long. Late in the game we had several possessions in a row that resulted in turnovers, which led to easy baskets for them and eventually eating up our lead and putting them in front.”

While Libby held it’s own in the first half with 25-21, in the end, the Loggers lost 54-48.

Libby made 38 percent of their shots, with 31 percent of their three-points and 52 percent of their free-throws. The team rebounded 28 over Bigforks’ 19 total rebounds, and made 10 assists, three steals and one block. The team had 16 turnovers, zero personal fouls, six bench points, seven second chance points and 11 points off turnovers.

Ryggs Johnston came out on top again for the team with 21 points. Erik Lauer tallied 14, Stephen Williams scored six, Colin Maloney put down four and Ryan Nagle scored three.
