Once again the Kootenai Heritage Council brings the always pleasurable musical entertainment of the UM Jazz Ensemble to the stage at the Libby Memorial Events Center. The students in the Libby school system will have the opportunity to enjoy and learn from these traveling musicians during the course of the day before the evening performance for the general public Monday, Feb. 6.

Musicians of the widely acclaimed Jazz Program at University of Montana in Missoula are determined by auditions held at the beginning of each semester. Positions in the multiple ensembles are open to all university students, regardless of student’s major. The program has four large bands and seven smaller combo groups which offer concerts, performing often throughout the Northwest as well as with numerous guest artists and clinicians on campus. This growing program hosts the Buddy DeFranco Jazz Festival in each spring that brings in many talented artists to Missoula. The UM Jazz Ensemble has been guest performers at the Spokane Washington Mead Jazz Festival and at the “When Jazz Was King” Festival with host Huey Lewis.

Presale tickets may be purchased prior at any of these Libby ticket outlets: Cabinet Books, Chamber of Commerce, Homesteader’s Farm & Ranch, Mountain Meadows, Rivermist, Rocky Mountain Music or The Western News. In Troy, tickets are available at Booze ‘n Bait.

Tickets are also available online at www.libbymemorialcenter.com. Also - remember: students who attend with a paying adult are admitted free of charge. This will be a great evening for a family outing.

Mark the calendar to enjoy a relaxing evening with the music of the UM Jazz Ensemble this coming Monday, Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. at the Libby Memorial Events Center.
