Cabinet Peaks Medical Center staff and physicians welcomed Jesse Woodson James, son of proud parents, Steven James and Stephanie Fairbrother as the first baby born in 2017. Jesse made his entrance at 10:53 a.m. on Friday the 13th weighing 7 pounds 8 ounces, and was 20 1/2 inches long. Dr. Rice was the attending physician.

Jesse joins siblings Arianna, Teeanna and Bentley James. This is the couple’s second New Years Baby born at CPMC.

“For the staff and physicians at CPMC, all of the babies born at our hospital are special, and the experience is exciting. We look forward to each and every one, but there is something magical about the first baby born each year and the way the entire community anxiously awaits the arrival,” said Kimberlee Rebo, RN, BSN and Manager of Acute Care Services of CPMC.

The New Year’s baby is traditionally celebrated throughout South Lincoln County. Along with Cabinet Peaks Medical Center, who provided the new little boy and his parents with an Ergo Baby Child Carrier equipped with an infant insert and teething pads, as well as a baby afghan created and donated by a CPMC employee, other area businesses joined in the celebration.

Glacier Bank provided a Visa Gift Card; Northwest Community Health Center donated a baby bouncer, burp cloths, Dr. Browns Natural Flow Bottles and a Take n’ Shake Toy. Libby Clinic purchased a pack and play; and a local family, Denny and Marty Powell donated a hand crocheted afghan, crocheted by Judy Holzer, for the first boy and the first girl born in 2017 in memory of their grandson Sam, who only lived a short while after birth.

More than 100 babies are delivered annually at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center. “We pride ourselves in our Birthing Services and in our remarkable Birthing Suite at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center,” added Rebo. “All of our Labor and Delivery rooms are completely private with a private bathroom and shower. Most of the care provided to both mother and baby takes place right in the room.” Additionally, we have a special lactation room in our suite. We are also pleased to have the opportunity to provide all of our laboring mothers with a cozy robe to wear, free newborn baby photos, and a ‘I was born at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center’ onsie for their little ones.”
