MWA to host a wilderness hike
Submitted by Brian Baxter
Join the Montana Wildlife Association for a fun and adventurous day of beautiful snow, wildlife tracks and good companionship. We will meet at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21 at the Venture Inn in Libby, and head out to observe and discover the tracks and trails left behind by mammals and birds as we snowshoe together in Kootenai Country! We’ll study the differences in tracks and scat of the dog family, cat family, weasel family and deer family as we meander at a pleasant pace together. We will also study prey species.
To register for this free class, please go to: wildmontana.org and see the Winter Walks for the Flathead-Kootenai Chapter, and follow the easy to read directions or call: 406-291-2154.
Please come prepared with snowshoes (we have a few extra pair), lunch, water, hot beverages, snacks and smiles! This is a moderate hike of less than three miles round trip, and we will wrap up around 2:30 p.m. We never know what interesting finds we may encounter.
