Libby Loggers split games

Libby shot out from under Bonners Ferry’s lead on their way to a victory on Thursday.

The Loggers fell behind in the beginning, with 24-32 on the scoreboard going into the second half. Despite the setback, Bonners Ferry lost their momentum and were no match for the Logger’s superlative defense and offense as they scored 28 points to Bonners Ferry’s 17 in the second half, finishing the game 52-49.

Libby made 33 percent of their shots, 25 percent of their three-pointers, 55 percent of their free throws, 33 rebounds, three assists, eight steals, seven blocks, and had 18 turnovers — three less than Bonners Ferry.

On Saturday, the home court was not in the Loggers’ favor when Polson came to town. Even with the Loggers narrowing the scoreboard gap in the second half, the Loggers ultimately lost to the Pirate 40-54.

Logger Erik Lauer led the team with 13 points, with Ryan Nagle and Ryggs Johnston each scoring 10. Colin Maloney added four for the team, as Gabe Peck scored three.

The Loggers made 32 percent of their shots against Polson, with 16 percent of their three-pointers and 70 percent of their free throws made. The Loggers had 22 rebounds, seven assists, eight steals, one block and 11 turnovers.
