Timothy “Tim” Lyle Moffett

Timothy “Tim” Lyle Moffett, 72, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017 at this home in Troy. He had been struggling with his health for some time. He was born on June 12, 1944 at Grand Island, Neb. to Donald and Maycl “Tiz” (Ellis) Moffett. He spent his childhood in Shelton, Neb. He was a U.S. Navy veteran who did multiple tours in Vietnam until being honorably discharged.

Tim married Kathie Matulka on Sept. 10, 1976. He worked for the BNSF Railroad until he retired. They moved to their dream home nestled in the Cabinet Mountains near Troy. Tim enjoyed playing in pool leagues and competing in pool tournaments along with socializing with his friends and family. He was a strong, proud and fun loving man who was always up for having an adventure.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Maycl “Tiz” Moffett. He will be missed dearly and is loved very much.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Kathie Moffett, Troy; three children daughter Tami Moffett, Loveland, CO; son Chris McMahon (Natasha), Axtell, Neb.; daughter Stephanie Sok (Nick) Loveland, Colo.; and five grandchildren A. J. Moffett, Samantha Moffett, Loveland, Colo.; Mike Holen, Laurel, Md.; Makaila Holen, Axtell, Neb.; and Nowen Sok, Loveland, Colo.

Tim is being remembered with a private service for his family in Troy. A celebration of life will follow later for family and friends. Arrangements are by Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Libby. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.schnackenbergfh.com.

A memorial fund is being set up by the family to honor the volunteers of the emergency responders of the town of Troy who took such good care of their loved one. The family will collect memorials to make a donation in Tim’s name.
