Local business has a new product
Libby has a new product being made by SK Fingerjoint, the mill that joints long length boards and quietly employees more than 19 people.
Dan and Dave Kneller, the owners, found a machine that compresses clean, dry, Doug Fir, Larch, Spruce, Pine, Fir chips (waste) without using glue, kind of like a giant pellet.
They have an introductory rate for Libby area- 1200 pounds, about 600 bricks for $50 plus a $10 bag deposit, about 8 cents a brick. The bricks weigh about 2 pounds and burn like presto logs. They load the 1200 pound bags with a forklift in back of a truck.
SK Fingerjoint is a lumber manufacturer that finger-joints long length dimensional (2X4 through 2X12) lumber into lengths up to 40’ long. They have been in operation since May of 2014 and employee 18 people. Dan Kneller and Dave Kneller are the owners of the business.
SK Fingerjoint wood briquettes are produced from untreated wood waste chips that are placed under pressure and turned into a fuel that can be utilized at home. There are no added glues or chemicals in our briquettes. Briquettes produce more heat but do not emit any toxic chemicals. They are more efficient and cost less compared to hardwood. Briquettes produce very low ash content. There are fewer carbon dioxide emissions, meaning more sustainable energy is produced.
