Join the Libby Chamber of Commerce, as they discuss the new Kootenai River Stampede on March 2, 5:30 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the Libby Chamber of Commerce

They welcome people at all levels of commitment and ideas for the continued success of the rodeo to join our committee.

Their goal is to promote and carry on this great family event and continue entertainment and celebration of Montana’s and Libby’s western heritage.

The new rodeo will feature new dates, new ideas and summer fun.

Drinks and snacks provided Kootenai River Stampede Committee: Trisha Davis-Stacy, John Smith, Brent Jordan, Patty Rambo and Tricia Caro.

There was a meeting held recently at the Venture Inn to form the new 2017 Kootenai River Stampede committee which is dedicated to continuing the long established tradition of PRCA Rodeo in Libby, Montana Aug. 4-5.

This committee will operate as a 501c3 organization under the name Kootenai River Stampede which is registered with the State of Montana.

One telling indication of the commitment that the professional element of the committee has to continuing this event is their traveling 12, 10 and five hours for the meeting to recruit Libby team members.

John Smith, PRCA stock contractor and owner of JS Rodeo Co. drove from Billings while PRCA rodeo announcer Brent Jordan arrived from Livingston and PRCA rodeo secretary Davis-Stacy commuted from Nespelem, Wash.

Libby team members include Rambo and Caro, both with a background in producing rodeos.

Smith of JS Rodeo Company has recently moved his operation from Cascade, Mont. to the Billings area. He has been a PRCA member for 30 years during which time he earned 14 trips to the Canadian and U.S. National Finals. Smith founded the JS Rodeo Company as a PRCA stock contracting firm in 2005. Since that time, his outstanding bucking stock has won rounds at most major PRCA rodeos across the country from Montana to Texas to the NFR Finals. Dedicated to the sport of rodeo, Smith knows what it takes to produce an outstanding event as witnessed over the past four years in Libby.

Jordan, hailing from Livingston, Mont., is the third generation rodeo cowboy in his family to hold a Pro Rodeo card. He announced his first rodeo at age 20 and has since covered venues from Las Vegas to Spain. Jordan approaches each rodeo with excitement and attention to detail including paying attention to the rodeo’s sponsors.

Davis-Stacy was raised on an Idaho cattle ranch becoming involved with rodeo through friends of a stock contractor. She worked behind the scenes for many years and has been secretarying rodeos around the northwest since 2003 and has been the secretary at the Libby rodeo since its inception. Besides rodeoing, Davis-Stacy and her husband operate a ranch which runs 175 cow/calf pairs and 30 head of rodeo breeding stock cattle.

Last year’s sponsors and participants are being contacted and offered first chance to continue their support on the basis of their past participation. Community members are invited to join the all new Kootenai River Stampede committee with support as a sponsor, advertiser, volunteer or even just as a spectator. Davis-Stacy can be reached at 509-398-2114. Locally, Rambo can be reached at 406-291-5653 or Caro at 360-827-5975.
