The Friends of Scotchman Peaks willl put on the Winter Wildlife Film Festival, showing wildlife films featuring bison, wolverines and mountain goats are coming to the Maki Theater at 12:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8.

Doors open at 12:15 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Friends of Scotchman Peaks Wilderness are reviving a winter tradition this year by presenting three wildlife films at the Maki Theater on Wednesday, March 8. FSPW sponsored a free showing of films for several years at the Maki, and after numerous requests by Libby residents decided that this was a good year to return to the practice.

The March 8 showings — an early matinee at 12:30 p.m. and an evening show at 6:30 p.m. — will feature the American bison, which came near to extinction in the late 1800s and is now the National Mammal. “Chasing the Phantom,” a marvelous film about the elusive wolverine, will also be on the bill; as well as a short produced for FSPW by Dapp Studios about the FSPW mountain goat education program.

The students and staff of the alternative high school will be attending the early matinee, but anyone who would rather come to an afternoon showing is welcome.

The event is free to the public, but donations will be accepted to the Libby Food Bank.

The Maki Theatre is located at 724 Louisiana Ave. in Libby. Doors open at 12:15 p.m. and 6 p.m.
