Fed up with lack of compensation for ARD

| February 22, 2017 10:15 AM

We are former residents of Libby, we spent 10 years there. Like with most folks there Jeff was diagnosed with an ARD, we have been going through the legal process to get some relief for this condition, we were wondering how everyone else feels about the dollar amounts being offered. It doesn’t seem right to be offered so little for a condition that effects so many. With me I was pulled from work in March of 2016, I had to forfeit my CDL due to being on oxygen during any phisycal activity. I don’t know about the rest of you but when this condition gets you, you would think that the companies we worked for would give a damn about us, but as we are learning our lives aren’t worth much.

We are just a file that will be put away in some closet.

If you’re as fed up as we are it would be nice to hear your thoughts. Hell, maybe we can band together to get everyone better compensation than what we’re being offered. The State of Montana sure got off easy even though they knew about the problem for several years before any of this came out.

This is effecting generations, it’s time for those in the higher positions to be held a Hell of a lot more accountable then they have been. A while back we saw an article about a secretary in a county building, her desk got asbestos dust on it, she was never diagnosed with an ARD, but she was compensated over $20 million, and yet everyday people in Libby are exposed to asbestos. As a final thought they have spent more on a cleanup that will never truly be clean.
