Libby woman arrested for intent to distribute drugs

A Libby woman is being held on $100,000 bond for two counts of criminal possession of dangerous drugs with intent to distribute after a significant amount of meth and heroin was allegedly found in her backpack.

On Jan. 29, Detective Nate Scofield received a warrant to search Sonja Acton and her luggage when she arrived in Libby on the train.

On Jan. 30, Scofield made contact with Acton as soon as she got of the Amtrak Train in Libby.

He then executed the search warrant on Acton’s backpack and found 212.5 grams of methamphetamine and 19.8 grams of heroin.

Acton allegedly rode the train from Libby to Everett, Wash. and picked up the illegal narcotics. She then got back on the train and came back to Libby the same day with the large amount of illegal narcotics.

Scofield wrote in the affidavit that, based on his training and experience, 212 grams of methamphetamine and 19.8 grams of heroin are both significantly larger amount than personal use.

If convicted, Acton could face fines up to $50,000 and imprisonment of up to 20 years.
