The Lady Trojans’ 37-33 victory over Eureka on Tuesday night locked up a district title for the girls.

This is the girls team’s first top regular season finish since the 2001-02 season.

Although Troy had a lead in the beginning, the Lady Lions came back with a vengeance in the second quarter, outscoring the Lady Trojans 12-4.

Troy gained their momentum back in the third quarter, but with two minutes left on the clock in the fourth quarter, the two teams were tied 33-33.

That’s when Lady Trojan Kaitlyn Downey came to the rescue, scoring a three pointer to break the tie and a free-throw point to secure the lead in the last two minutes — her only four points of the game. In the end, the Lady Trojans defeated the Lady Lions 37-33.

Aurora Becquart led the team with 15 points, Allie Coldwell came in with eight, Allie Brown scored six and Alyssa Lewis and Downey added four.
