Troy man pleads not guilty to assault, drugs charges

A Troy man pleaded not guilty this week to partner family member assault, a misdemeanor, and possession of dangerous drugs, a felony.

On Jan. 25, Jack Wayne Hamilton III was arrested after his wife called to report that he had allegedly assaulted her at his residence.

According to the affidavit, his wife claimed that she had gone down to his residence to confront him about his alleged drug use and cheating.

When she entered his home and confronted him, Hamilton allegedly became very angry and agitated. He then allegedly grabbed her by her sweatshirt and slammed her down on the couch.

Hamilton’s wife then said that he began to toss her around the living room of their residence at least seven to eight times.

His wife then claimed that when Hamilton was done throwing her around the residence, he allegedly picked her up and tossed her outside.

After he was transported to the Lincoln County Detention Center, two pills later identified as oxycodone were allegedly found on him in a contact lens case.

If convicted, he could face a maximum penalty of $51,000, one year in the county jail, and five years imprisonment in the state prison.
