Local spreads smiles with a snow creation

A snow sculpture has been turning heads on Louisiana Avenue.

Suz Bourcier, a resident and artist, was sitting on her porch, day after day, staring at a pile of snow that had accumulated from snow removal trucks.

One day, she messaged her friend, saying “I’m going to make a ‘Snow-py.’”

Needless to say, her friend was confused.

Bourcier went to the snow pile, armed with a scarf, a bucket and black spray paint.

After a few hours, she had created her ‘Snow-py,’ which was, in fact, the Peanuts television show’s iconic dog Snoopy carved into the snow.

“I’m not a snowman person, that’s just too traditional,” Bourcier said.

Bourcier has loved the character Snoopy her whole life, but her goal in making the ‘Snow-py was to put smiles on people’s faces.

Since the snow-animal’s installment, she said it’s been attracting curiosity. Some people she said, will slow down as they drive past it and some will even circle around the block to see it again.

“Everyone knows Snoopy — he’s such an icon,” Bourcier said. “Winter is always so depressing, and I think we needed humor, something to make people smile.”
