FWP seeks comment on 2018 fishing contests

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks seeks public comment on open-water fishing contests proposed for the 2018 season.

Proposed contests include: Mar 10-11: Tobacco Valley Rod and Gun Club Rainbow Derby, Lake Koocanusa; May 19-20: Koocanusa Resort and Marina Trout and Salmon Derby, Lake Koocanusa; June 23-24: Bull Lake Pike Strike, Bull Lake; Sept 22: Bull Lake Pike and Bass Tournament, Bull Lake.

Snowmobile event

Kootenai National Forest’s Rexford and Fortine Ranger districts are requesting comment on whether to issue a permit for a one-day event on Jan. 27, 2018. Called the 2018 Fun Run, it would involve 100 to 150 snowmobilers on about 35 miles of groomed trails in Grave Creek and Therriault Lake areas. Signs would be installed on Jan. 26, and all temporary improvements would be removed by the end of the day on Jan. 28.
