GIRLS

Troy 39, Stillwater 23

TROY —After a slow-start, Troy pulled away to down Stillwater Christian School in a nonconference game.

Troy’s Aurora Becquart lead all scorers with 11 points. Katelynn Tallmadge added nine for the victors.

“Overall I was happy with the way our girls played,” Troy coach Justin Young said via email. “They demonstrated toughness, and were willing to fight for 32 minutes. We were missing a couple of our starters, but the younger girls stepped up and played some aggressive basketball. Annie Day did an outstanding job controlling the game through her ball handling and her up tempo defense on the other end. Montana Rice played strong for us and Katelynn Tallmadge went on a seven-point run all by herself to help pull us away in the third quarter. I was also pleased with the way our senior posts played. Grace Dolan had a solid game. She was disciplined on defense and made some very athletic baskets. Aurora Becquart did a great job of helping bring up the ball. Missing two guards, Aurora had to step out her comfort zone and do what was nesserray to help the team win. A theme I think was common with our whole team that game. The thing we need to work on most before the next game, is our offensive execution.”

Helen Hashley and Lulu Neumann both had six to pace Stillwater.

Stillwater 5 9 6 3 — 23

Troy 3 13 11 12 — 39

Stillwater Christian — Marae Tintzman 1, Claire Erb 2, Katie Wilkey 1, Helen Hashley 6, Lulu Neumann 6, Katie Venman 4, Selah Neumann 2, Ramey Metzger 1.

Troy — Aurora Becquart 11, Annie Day 2, Grace Dolan 12, Katelynn Tallmadge 9, Montanna Rice 3, Izzy Ramirez 2.
