Thanks to a departing librarian
Troy Friends of the Library want to say thank you and good luck to our librarian of 10 years, Stacy Walenter.
Stacy, you brought Troy, Libby and Eureka the “Poetry Extravaganza.” Students and everyone had the opportunity to write and celebrate poetry and poets. Stacy was even able to enlist two Montana Poet Laureates — Tami Haaland and Lowell Jaeger — to judge the poetry contests and to present some of their poems at the award ceremonies.
Many visiting artists over the years inspired students through music, art and poetry at our schools and at the Extravaganza. For several years, Stacy and Troy Friends of the Library brought programs from Montana Committee for the Humanities and evening movies to our community. She also offered a story time that allowed head start students to not only be read to, but to experience a library setting.
Stacy was always willing to do computer research and was adept at locating the hard-to-find book we were searching for. Stacy, who is a writer, offered her time to a writers’ group, reaching high school students, adults and visitors to our library. Most recently she sponsored a “Spooky Stories” writing contest for the schools.
Stacy, we thank you, appreciate you and wish you the best in your next endeavor. We hope you continue to flourish and enrich our community.
