Sally Ann Nelson Regalia

| August 15, 2017 4:00 AM

On Monday, Aug. 7, 2017, Sally Ann Nelson Regalia left to join her beloved husband, Bob, who was waiting for her.

Sally was born April 6, 1941 and grew up in Northwest Montana. After graduating from high school in the tiny town of Troy, she headed to the much bigger city of Oakland, California where she found a job at Simons Hardware store.

One day while Sally was working at the store, a young man bumped into her in the elevator. As the two locked eyes, it must have been love at first sight, because Sally would marry him only weeks later. And for the next 51 years, Bob and Sally were inseparable. Whether it was visiting their favorite getaway spot at the Peppermill Casino in Reno, Nevada or taking a horse-drawn carriage ride in Central Park, they were rarely apart.

Sally worked for many years doing billing work. But doubtless her favorite job was the one she started after retiring, working with her son, Rob, selling food at fairs and festivals across the west coast. Whatever she was doing, though, Sally was the one working the hardest and complaining the least.

Anyone who knew Sally knew how deeply she was loved. And most obvious, how much she cared for her husband and family. Sally was a quiet presence, but she made sure that her family knew how much she loved them through countless small acts of kindness. No matter her own discomfort, at any time of the day Sally could be found working to take care of them.

Sally leaves many behind, including her son Rob and his wife Tracy; her daughter Rhonda; her brothers Lewis and Stan; her grandchildren John, Joe, Justin and Kate; and many more, both in the Livermore, California area where she and Bob lived for most of their years, and in Montana and Idaho where much of her family is. All of them love and miss her, but they know she is home now.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2017 at 1 p.m. at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, California.

Sherman-Campbell Funeral & Cremation Services in Newport, Washington, is in charge of arrangements.
