A case of the few ruining it for the many
Have you ever had your dad come home from work and say I heard Johnny down the street got in trouble yesterday. Come here for your whipping if one kid did something wrong you’re all guilty.
That is how I feel about the County Commissioners closing the gun range after two or three young men put a target up at 1,500 yards, passed where the forest service use agreement allows for the rifle range. The interesting thing is if they shot from across the fence and came in from over by the airport area then there wouldn’t be a problem. Forest service land is open to shoot from as long as you clean up after yourself. Also don’t set targets up on trees as we live in a logging community we do not want to damage trees.
One more concern is I’m wondering how they will close off the two ranges and leave two open. Unless they put up signage, a blockade, and possibly police tape. I feel they are setting up the community, waiting for someone to shoot on the range. As of Friday morning there is no signage on the range telling of the closure. Just an article in the newspaper and word of mouth.
I have been the president of two organizations that ran gun ranges. If you have a closure you notify the public in as many ways as possible. You don’t want people to drive out to the range and find it closed, unless you want more complaints.
