Many residents know him as “the man with the camera,” who frequents the High School sporting events.

In the office, co-workers know him as the man with extensive knowledge on Libby and Troy’s history, who calls co-workers over to see his new finds in The Western News’ archives, and who sets an example of integrity, diligence, supportiveness and enthusiasm.

Paul Sievers, The Western News photographer, historian, and the designer of our “Looking Back” section, retired from fulltime to parttime last Friday.

Sievers has worked at The Western News since 1998, when then-owner Howard Markley “Mark” McMahon hired him as a pressman to print the paper.

Since then, Sievers has covered every community event in Libby and Troy.

He leaves behind big shoes to fill.
