The Troy City Council on Wednesday passed three out of four sections of the 2016-2017 budget.

The city council met on Wednesday evening and passed the resolutions including levying assessment for sprinkling and oiling, annual appropriations and setting the mills.

Troy property owners are projected to have a very slight increase in taxes. According to City Clerk and Treasurer Tracy Rebo, all Troy residents will contribute a combined total of $400 more in taxes for this year’s budget. Rebo stressed that these taxes are not for each property owner, but the total tax for the entire city.

The total projected funds for the fiscal year is $2,556,541, and the total projected expenses equal $2,551,631. This dollar amount of expenses will only be reached if they spend the total dollar amount for each department. Rebo noted that they never spend the entire amount, rather the number is the grand total of the money put aside for each department.

According to the annual appropriations resolutions in the budget for 2016-2017, the general fund is $685,798.

The setting of salaries and wages was tabled because they are still in negotiation with unions.

The City Council work meeting, originally scheduled for Sept. 8 was cancelled and will not be rescheduled. The next regularly scheduled meeting is set for Sept. 21.
