Ada Glen Brooks, 79, of Libby
Ada “Glen” (Grotjohn) Brooks, 79 years of age and formerly of Libby, passed away Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Glen was born in Ronan on Jan. 27, 1937 to Eugene and Mabel Brooks.
Glen grew up and went to school in Ronan before moving to Libby in 1953 to live with her sister Ruth Hawk. Glen met Earl. E Grotjohn of Libby and they were married in 1954. Glen lived most of her life in Libby, where she was a mother and homemaker until beginning work as a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in 1981.
Glen worked for the next 28 years as a mail carrier until health conditions forced her retirement. Glen lived at Orchard Gardens Assisted Living in Coeur d’Alene from September 2014 to September 2016.
Glen was active in her community; she was an avid bowler and loved to read, garden and, most importantly, spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Glen also cared for family and friends in sickness and at the end of life.
Glen belonged to the VFW, the American Bowling Congress and to St. John Lutheran Church.
Glen is survived by four sons and two daughters; Steve (Rene) Grotjohn of Billings, and their three children, Katie (Wayne) Wilcox, Chris Grotjohn and Bryan Grotjohn, Tim Grotjohn of Libby, his son Eric Grotjohn, Kim (Jim) Hays of Spokane, Wash., their children Patrick (Laura) Hays, Nathan Hays, Kassi Hays, Jeff (Ann) Grotjohn of Libby, their children, Nick (Erin) Grotjohn, Sarah (Logan) Holzhauer, Kerri (Dan) Connors of Boise, Idaho, her son Matthew Morrissey of Oak Ridge, Ore., daughter Kelli Morrissey of Denver, Colo., Patrick Grotjohn of Libby, and his daughters, Alyssa (Ryan) Pluid of Kalispell, and McKenzie (Nate) Scofield of Libby; 10 great-grandchildren, Owen, Ben, Kenadi, Jace, Nathan, Parker, Holden, Maverick, Noah and Maddie.
Glen is also survived by a brother, Joseph (Loretta) Brooks, and sister Patty (Larry) Krahn, bother of Ronan.
Memorial services will be held at St. John Lutheran Church in Libby on Monday, Sept. 12, 2016 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Libby Food Pantry or Wings Regional Cancer Center.
