The Lady Loggers Soccer team was able to keep off the Park Rangers for the first 20 minutes, but the Rangers still managed to score the first and final goal of the game in the first half.

For the rest of the match, the Loggers held up a strong defense and offense, not letting the opponents score another goal.

With two minutes left of the first half, Bridget Carvey kicked a seemingly perfect goal, only to be snatched away just in time by the opposing keeper.

Sydney Gier stole the ball 25 minutes into the second half, taking the ball away from the opponent’s long-held grasp.

In the middle of the second half, the Park Rangers were able to lure keeper Shannon Reny away from her post, and would have made another goal if it wasn’t for the superlative defense of Jillian Hawthorne and Gier, who deflected the ball way from the net.

Isabelle Martineau managed to drive the ball approximately 40 yards across, where she blocked one of the Ranger’s shots with her head.

The girls team lost 4-0 against Belgrade during a Saturday morning game that was called off with 28:43 remaining in the second half by the coaches and referees due to an injury.

The Lady Loggers’ Saturday game against Belgrade was cut short when keeper, Shannon Reny suffered a head injury and had to be taken to the hospital. According to coach Jay Forsyth, Shannon Reny was responding and in stable condition before being taken away by an ambulance.

Reny’s teammate on Monday said that Reny is doing OK.

After 10 minutes of a few close-call shots from both teams, including the ball hitting the pole and laying in the realm of the net, Belgrade finally scored first.

Sydney Gier managed to steal the ball away from the Panthers, taking it to the end of the field where the Loggers attempted a goal.

The Panthers had a seemingly perfect kick into the net, until Reny dove in the air for the save.

During the first 30 seconds of the second half, Belgrade scored again. After which, the Loggers worked tirelessly to insure the Panthers didn’t score another goal for the next 10 minutes.

During that time, Jillian Hawthorne nearly missed a goal, grazing the goal post.

After the weekend, the Lady Loggers are now 0-2 in the season.
