Commissioner: Enough is enough
I am writing as a concerned citizen and native of Libby. As I have watched the events and issues surrounding Mayor Roll and Councilman Olsen unfold for a number of years, I’m reminded of the words of Donald Rumsfeld,” Enjoy your time in public service. It may well be one of the most interesting and challenging times of your life”.
I would like to encourage both to reach beyond themselves, assess the essence of public service, and put the City of Libby and her citizens first. This is no indictment on either man, but enough is enough! It is time to step up and do the honorable thing...step aside and allow the city to move forward. Libby neither needs or deserves the embarrassment and negative publicity of further court hearings, recall petitions or any other actions bringing further embarrassment to the city.
Margaret Chase Smith said; “Public Service must be more than doing a job efficiently and honestly. It must be a complete dedication to the people and to the nation”. Sometimes that dedication is best realized when the good of the people is best served by us stepping down and allowing others to carry the sword.
We have talented dedicated people serving on the council and others ready to step up and serve. For the good of the people and to honor the years of service each of you have provided...stand up, shake hands, move on and allow Libby to move forward.
