Missing woman found near Horseshoe Lake

A 36-year-old Darby woman was found after she had been missing for three days, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office announced on Monday.

Lori Lynn Aronson was found camping in the rain near Horseshoe Lake Monday afternoon, near the location where sheriff’s deputies had found her car a few days earlier. Aronson had been missing since Friday afternoon, when she left her parents’ home in Darby.

“She was wet and happy to be located,” Deputy Brent Faulkner said.

Faulkner said Aronson’s parents were the first ones to locate her and had a suspicion that she would be camping near the lake. Aronson’s vehicle was found parked and out of gas over the holiday weekend near Horseshoe Lake. The sheriff’s office was aware that she had camping equipment with her and Faulkner said the office had received a report on Sunday that Arsonson was camping behind the lake, away from the highway.

“They had a hunch, because she’s not afraid to camp,” Faulkner said.

Faulkner said just before the call came in that Aronson had been found, the David Thompson Search and Rescue team was gearing up to launch a search in the area.

“No sooner did we have a briefing getting ready to start when they called in that they were at Happy’s [Roadhouse Inn], warming her up and getting her some food. They were very relieved and looking forward to getting her home.”
