Lady Loggers lose to Thompson Falls in five
The Lady Loggers had a good fight at Thompson Falls on Monday, keeping up through the entire match but losing in the fifth game by two points.
The games of 21-25, 25-22, 17-25, 25-19 and 13-15 handed the Lady Loggers a loss that Coach Cindy Ostrem-Johnston saw as a frustrating and heartbreaking defeat.
“We had solid leads that we gave up in the first and last sets,” Ostrem-Johnston said. “We should have won this one and instead we let it slip away.”
Jayden Winslow led the team in aces with four, with Jessika Jones and Alli Collins not too far behind with three each. The team had 16 aces.
The Lady Loggers made 46 kills, with Brooklyn Rainer 13, Mehki Sykes 11, Jayden Winslow 10 and Jessika Jones with five.
Alli Collins totaled 39 assists, with Rainer adding four, with 45 assists for the Lady Loggers as a team.
Sykes made four blocks and Rainer had three.
The team had a whopping 79 digs, Winslow leading with 23, Emma Gruber with 18 and Haylee Cannon with 13.
The loss left the Lady Loggers with a 5-2 conference record, 10-3 overall.
Their next match will be at Troy on Tuesday, Oct. 18, and travel to Missoula for a tournament on Friday, Oct. 21.
