Lady Loggers spike Bigfork, outlast Eureka
The pressure was on Friday night, but the Lady Loggers came through when it mattered.
Libby was extended to five games at home against Eureka, but won, 25-19, 19-25, 24-26. 25-17 and 15-9.
The win was Libby’s 10th of the year against two losses. They are 5-1 in District 7B.
“The girls showed some true grit battling back after being down two sets,” LHS coach Cindy Ostrem-Johnston said, noting that “there was some incredible blocking,’ 19 in all.
The coach added that her team lauded the floor leadership of Haylee Cannon.
Brooklyn Rainer had 11 kills and 10 blocks, while Jayden Winslow had 15 digs and seven blocks and Alli Collins had 15 digs and 39 assists.
Mehki Sykes contributed with 17 kills, and Jessica Jones had five aces.
On Thursday, Libby downed Bigfork, 25-14, 25-17 and 25-23.
Collins had six aces and 27 assists, while Rainer made 13 kills and Emma Gruber had 13 digs.
Libby played at Thompson Falls on Monday and travels to Butte on Saturday for the Butte Central Classic. The 10-team tourney will consist of pool and bracket play.
