The Loggers soccer team defeated the Stillwater Cougars on Saturday, controlling the field for most of the match, with a final score of 2-0.

The Loggers displayed strengths on offense in the beginning of the first half, only harkened by the opponents’ defense near the net. While the Loggers took many shots, the team never seemed to get close enough to the net, taking many of their shots over 10 yards away.

The Loggers kept the ball on the opponents’ side for nearly all of the first 15 minutes, with Cody Wood showing off his skill at protecting the ball through the game. Bryant Reis worked as a courageous offensive player, taking the ball through most of the field to the opponents’ net. Reis’s shot for a goal was deflected off the goal post, but his effort wasn’t in vain. The deflected ball was returned to Colin Maloney to score the first point for the Loggers.

The second half started off similar to the first, with the opponents’ side hosting most of the action. The Loggers fended them off, and in a display of epic control over the ball, Tyler Lucas made a loop around the Cougars’ defense, pinpointing the perfect gap for the team’s second goal.

The Cougars put up a good fight towards the end, becoming more aggressive in the face of the home team’s two-point lead.

The Loggers (2-4-1) will host Columbia Falls tonight.
