Endre C. Almeida

Endre C. Almeida aka Henry, Enrique, died on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2016 at his home in Libby. He was born Jan. 12, 1934 to Jose Juan Chio Lee and mother Maria Salustria Almeida.

He married Ernestina Palomar Almeida on Dec. 9, 1970 in Mexico City, Mexico. He traveled north from his village town of Caiman from the county of Tampico Alto to live and work in various states.

He was self-taught in English, mathematics, and science and later learned the construction trade. He worked on railroads, highways, dams, buildings and the Alaska Pipeline among other various jobs. He was highly regarded as an efficient, dependable, honorable and professional worker.

His interests included enjoying family gatherings, traveling, playing chess, Chinese checkers and poker. He especially enjoyed researching history, science and art at various public libraries. In 1988, he became a U.S. citizen and voted proudly in the elections.

He was preceded in death by his father Jose Juan Chio Lee, mother Maria Salustria Almeida and former wife Ernestina Palomar Almeida.

Many people have mentioned that he had a pleasant humorous personality. He is greatly missed. God bless you and we love you Father.

Survivors include his children, Lorena C. Wiley and husband Tom of Oregon; Albert J. Almeida of Washington; Alexander Edward Almeida of Washington; Daniel Lee Almeida of Washington; Catalina Almeida-Sloan and husband Phil of Montana; grandchildren Ryan and Lucia Wiley; Dylan Almeida; Alexis and Madison Almeida; Talina, Xavier and Genna Sloan; and one great-granddaughter Aja Almeida; sister, Maria Magdalena Chio Almeida of Mexico; and brother Zenon Ignacio Chio Almeida; and numerous relatives and friends.
