Bruce A. Carrier

Bruce A. Carrier, 85, died on Friday, Nov. 11, 2016 at his home in Libby. He was born on October 30, 1931 at Sioux City, Iowa to Glen and Mary Jean (Swale) Carrier. He started his education in Sheldon, Iowa, and then continued in Rapid City, S.D. and completed school in Shoshoni, Wyo.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army on Feb. 7, 1949, at the age of 17. Bruce was stationed in Japan from 1949 until June 26, 1950. He served in Korea from July 4, 1950 until 1952. He was then stationed in Kansas City, Missouri until being honorably discharged in 1953. 

Bruce went to work for the Great Northern Railway in Whitefish on July 6, 1953. He was stationed at Troy in April 8, 1968. He worked for 43 years with Great Northern, Burlington Northern and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroads. He married Pat Sauer on Feb. 14, 1988.

Bruce was preceded in death by his sister Bonnie Tipton and his parents.

Survivors include his wife Pat Carrier, Libby; children Nancy McGuire (Ron), Glen Carrier (Pam), all of Florence, Ore.; Ronald Carrier, U.S. Marine Corps.; Richard Carrier, La Jolla, Calif.; Brenda Rebo (Tony), Libby; Craig Collinson (Marty), Baltimore, Md.; 30 grandchildren including JR Rebo (LaRona Luscher), Libby; Teri and George Berschneider, Hawaii; Jess Shaw (Jon Ames), Libby; and Ashley Shaw, Libby; Huston Collinson, Jasper Collinson, and Sophia Collinson and two great- grandchildren Ryder Lee Rebo and Jaxen Ames; brother-in-law John Sauer (Judy) and sisters-in-law Marlyn Sauer and Norma and Jack Bentzinger and many nieces and nephews.

No services are being held. Memorials may be made to the Shriner’s.
