| November 15, 2016 11:34 AM

Roland James Huffman (Butch), 72, died on Nov. 9, 2016 after an extended illness at the Libby Care Center for which he put up a great fight. Rolly was born on February 13, 1944 to Delmar and Elanor (McRell) Huffman in Libby. He attended schools in Libby.

He married Carol Jean Huffman in Libby on Aug. 27, 1966. Rolly and Jean moved to Washington where he held numerous jobs from ranching to county road work. They had a son Craig James Huffman. Rolly and Carol later divorced.

In 1997 he met his “Lil Newt” Carol Newton they remained in each other’s lives until his death.

Rolly spent his golden years in the mountains of Libby. He would teach his grandkids how to fish on Miller Creek and how to hunt. He will always be remembered for his funny sense of humor and his often very stubborn streak that was sometimes very challenging.

His last few years were spent at the Brendan house and The Libby Care Center where he made many new friends. He loved to look out the window and watch his bird feeder. He also loved to watch those old westerns.

Rolly was preceded in death by his parents, his ex-wife Jean Huffman and his little dog Tuffy.

Rolly is survived by his family Craig and Sheri Huffman, his sister Dottie (Bob) White, Mitch (Diane) Creon, his grandchildren Brandie (Jimmy) Woody, Sky Barry, Justin Barry, Brandon Huffman, his lifelong friend and companion Carol Newton aka “Lil Newt” as Rolly always called her; his Arizona family Cherie, Mandy, Jasmine , Debbie, Robin and Robbie, and his numerous great grandkids.

A private family service will be scheduled at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Libby Hospice in Rolly’s name.
