Arnold Ray 'Arnie' Ginter

| November 8, 2016 8:25 AM

Arnold Ray “Arnie” Ginter, 62, entered the presence of his loving Savior on Friday, Nov. 4, 2016 at his home in Libby.

He was born on June 28, 1954 to Lloyd and Ruby (Martin) Ginter in Willard, Ohio. He moved with his family to Owingsville, Ky., as a small child. He called Owingsville his home.

Arnie served in the U.S. Navy from 1972 to 1975 on the USS Kitty Hawk. He came to visit Libby in 1974 where he met Kathy James, the love of his life. They were married on July 18, 1975. They spent the next 41 years together and had two daughters, Mary Ann and Debra Dee.

Arnie loved to fish, hunt, and pan for gold with his friends. He enjoyed watching college basketball and was a fan of the Kentucky Wildcats and the Gonzaga Bulldogs. He loved spending time with his family most of all. In 1977, he joined the Laborers Union and worked on many projects around Libby, including the Libby Dam and St. John’s Lutheran Hospital. He was a flagger on many highways in and around Montana.

Arnie was always a humorous person, joking around and always up for a laugh. He had a way of making people smile even when things were going bad. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Jonathon, Timmy and twin sisters, Shelly Winkle and Sheila Thornsburg.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Kathy Ginter; two beloved daughters, Mary Barrager (Jayson Snow) and Debra Ball (Luther); his grandchildren whom he loved with all his heart, David, Justin, and McKenzie Barrager, Lee Roy, Keigan and Dawson Ball, and Jayson Snow, Jr.; two brothers, Perry Patton, Middleton, Ohio; Gary Martin, Frenchburg, Kent.; a sister, Terry Sue Reffitt, Mt. Sterling, Kent.; many brothers-in-law and sisters in law in Kentucky, Montana and Idaho; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, friends too many to mention and a special cousin, Wilma Jackson.

Visitation will be from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016 at Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home. A service will be at 1 p.m., Monday, Nov. 14, 2016 at Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home Chapel.
