On Tuesday, the voters of Lincoln County will be filling one of our most important local offices, that of county commissioner for District 2.

Unfortunately, we are losing the services of Commissioner Greg Larson, who has done outstanding work on our behalf during his short time in office. In his place, we need to elect a person of the same quality and caliber, a person who can deal responsibly with the numerous functions of a county commissioner.

We are fortunate to have such a person on our ballots this year. That man is Jerry Bennett.

I’ve known Jerry since I first came to Lincoln County in 2003. I came to know him through his many volunteer efforts and came to respect him because of his deep commitment to strengthening our communities.

I followed Jerry’s career in the Montana House of Representatives, where he served four successful terms. In two of those terms, he was chosen by his colleagues as majority whip for the Republican leadership of the House. That he was elected to this position shows Jerry’s qualities as a leader. The whip is the person tasked with bringing people together and making things happen, at which Jerry excels. In fact, his ability to bring people together to work on the issues facing our state resulted in Jerry being honored as “Legislator of the Year” for 2015.

In addition, it also shows the depth of the relationship Jerry has formed with other legislators, state officials and department heads in Helena. Those relationships are an incredible asset to the people of Lincoln County as we work extensively with state and federal agencies to improve our economy and the quality of life for the people of Lincoln County.

As a resident of District 2, I can honestly say there is no candidate I would trust more than Jerry Bennett to fairly and impartially represent my district on the Lincoln County Board of Commissioners. Jerry is honest, fair and deeply committed to Lincoln County.

I urge you to join me in voting for Jerry Bennett on Tuesday.
