Peggy Crace

| November 4, 2016 9:22 AM

Peggy Crace, a long- time resident of Libby, died Sunday, Oct. 30, 2016 after a long battle with cancer.

She was born in Wisconsin in 1924 and married Victor Virgil Crace upon his return from World War ll in 1944.

While following Victor’s construction opportunities they migrated throughout the Northwest spending many years in Oregon and Montana before settling in Libby. They raised three children and Peggy helped support the family by caring for patients in an Oregon nursing home and a facility for children with special needs. She became an accomplished artist and is widely known for her saw blade paintings of Montana landscapes and wildlife.

Peggy loved her children, grandchildren and many great grandchildren and was always ready for fishing, hunting, hiking or just curling up on the couch with them to watch a good movie or a favorite TV show. No one can forget her spirit when she charged over a hilltop in Alaska to get a close up picture of a wild buffalo herd and her grandkids were not surprised when she was still hunting deer well into her 80s.

She is survived by her children, Diane Quick, Donna Stoffel and Victor Crace Jr. Her surviving grandchildren are Bobbi Perry, Michael Smith, Bud Buller, Bryan Smith, Victor Crace, Jr., Clark Crace, Brad Buller and Sara Elmore. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren.

Columbia Mortuary is caring for the family.
