Petition signers should apologize
Letter to the Editor:
Susie Rice and her little band of 31 character assassins have some work to do. They recently filed a complaint, reviving the same old tired lies about Allen Olsen that have disrupted this community in four previous attempts to harm Allen Olsen’s reputation.
The agitators owe Allen Olsen an apology. Not one single signatory had the common decency, the humanity, the honor, to go to Allen in person before signing on to this humiliation in a 20-plus page complaint about his residence that was summarily rejected by another state-level authority.
They owe an apology to Judge Wheelis, who wrote an eloquent and comprehensive decision determining that the conspiracy theories advanced against the councilman were “frivolous.”
They owe an apology to the Commissioner of Political Practices for wasting his time, and valuable state resources, by pursuing an issue he has already been involved in and is currently prosecuting the originators of the lies. This smacks of witness tampering and should be prosecuted as such.
They owe an apology to the people of Libby for embarrassing this town by proclaiming our backwards dysfunction to the entire state, and for harming our economic development efforts by exposing the radical elements that are considered “pillars of the community” and the Marxist values that dominate the local political landscape.
I don’t expect any such apologies. If you want the names of the signatories, the Facebook page “Libby/Troy Area News and Opinion” has it posted for all to see.
Olsen has turned the other cheek like the leader that he is. Forgiving the signatories without requiring them to admit to their sins and repent of the abuse will only embolden them to try again. They should be shunned by polite, civil society until they recognize the damage they are doing to our community.
D.C. Orr,
Libby
