Letter to the Editor:

To our generous community:

The board of Kootenai Valley Partners Habitat for Humanity would like to thank all those in Libby and Troy who made our 22nd STOKR a success. With over 400 cyclists in the area for the weekend, these riders were warmly welcomed and well fed. One rider from Idaho Falls sent the following kudos: “Thanks so much for coordinating such a well run, volunteer-based STOKR this year! I’ve helped and ridden in many tours and this last weekend was among the best coordinated and supported I’ve experienced. Great route, fantastic volunteers, super food stops, many happy riders!”

With this many riders on the road, we expereinced serious congestion between Libby and Kootenai Falls. We are aware that the sheer numbers caused some delays and safety concerns. We have already met to improve the situation by staggering the start of the riders next year to make STOKR safer for the bikes and for the cars.

As the main fundraiser for our local Habitat for Humanity affiliate, we would like to thank the more than 300 volunteers who bake the pies and cookies and make the pasta salads, the students who collate rider packets, count plasticware and move supplies, the support drivers, the food servers, the sign placers, the registration crew, the local supporting businesses. It’s truly a community effort to pull off STOKR.

Thanks,

Greg and Susie Rice,

Libby
