78, of Troy

 

Burdette George Taylor, 78, of Troy, passed away Friday, May 13, 2016, at his home in Troy. He was born July 9, 1937, in Rigby, Idaho, to George A. and Ruth Grace (Stone) Taylor.  

He grew up in Idaho, graduating from Leadore High School in 1955. In 1961, Burdette joined the United States Army and served until 1963. 

He moved to Troy in 1964 and on August 22, 1965, Burdette married Linda Tiegen at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Troy. He moved to Libby in 1971 and owned and operated the Texaco station until 1978. On the side, he ran a cedar mill and made cedar shakes which he sold to a distributor from Kalispell.  

They moved back to Troy in 1981 and he worked as a miner for many years, retiring in 1993. Burdette and Linda were antique dealers from 1993 to 2006. He was a collector of many things and could fix anything.  

He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda.

Survivors include his children Michael Taylor (dog, Beau) of Troy, Matthew Taylor (Jennifer) of Holly Springs, N.C., Melinda Thompson (Tim) of Troy; Marzell VanVlandaeren (David) of Spokane, Wash., and eight grandchildren.
